The Code and Policies Committee is tasked with researching, developing and reccomending amendments to the internal procedures and internal policies of the AMS. Most of the AMS current operations is enumerated within the AMS Governance Documents, which detail everything from the membership of the society, to the ways that elections are conducted.

The committee can review Code and procedures for implementing code, and since the AMS Elections Dispute of 2008, the Committee has been seen to be the final interpreter of the Code and Bylaws for situations that could have a political implication to their ruling.
